Phased development of a much-loved family home
This Victorian property was in desperate need of some care and attention when the current owners enlisted our help to design them a comfortable family home following their relocation from London. We oversaw the complete remodelling and refurbishment of the existing building, as well as two extensions. At the far end of the house, nestled within the surrounding woodland, a calming master bedroom suite was created, with a hidden study space within the roof. At the opposite end of the house, a three-sided glass and oak-frame structure extends the living space and maximises views out to the extensive rear garden. Planning permission was also obtained for further accommodation in a large detached barn, on the site of an old garage.
We were then invited back to design a glass and galvanised steel canopy with raised deck which links the house and the barn. This addition created an external room usable in all weather, without impacting on the openness of its rural setting. We are always pleased to be invited back to a property for further phases of work and it has been wonderful to have been part of this family’s journey as they have realized their dream home.
